Tony and I had the day to ourselves. We drove to Rydal and parked in White moss car park. We walked to Grasmere lake and took photos, the bluebells were all up the bank by the lake. Walked back, a total of just over two miles

A walk through the woods smelling of wild garlic to the shore at Bardsea.
We all four, tony myself Lynda and Joe visited Holehird gardens which, as usual wer absolutely beautiful.
Rhododendron
Then we drove to Elterwater, parked in the NT car park and walked to the tarn, lots of sheep and their tiny black lambs - Herdwick sheep always have black lambs but their fleece later changes colour. Along the path through the woods the bluebells were beautiful, so many of them. We sat by the tarn for quite a while taking photos of the Langdales in the distance.

Thursday 11 May up early this morning and out before
09.30 to get to Lakeside to catch the MV Tern we had a freedom of the lake
ticket which enabled us to get on and off the boat as we pleased on Windermere.
First stop was Bowness which remarkably was not very busy. It was a beautiful
sunny morning and actually very warm in the sun. At Bowness we caught a launch
which took us to the Lake District visitor centre, Brockhole. We walked up
through the steep gardens to the centre where we had coffee sitting on the
terrace. Again the views were lovely and the beds of tulips and
forgetmenots were spectacular. Back to the jetty
to pick up another launch which took us to Ambleside where we sat outside the
Water's Head Hotel where we had lunch.View from Brockhole

Friday was an easier day. We drove to Barrow and walked alongside the estuary looking over to Walney Island. then we walked back and looked in the Docks museum which is always interesting. When we left there we drove to Ulverston to the Old Farmhouse pub restaurant where we all had fish and chips for lunch.
